Community And Charitable Involvement

charity jarAs an office we have participated in and contributed donations to a number of local events which helps raise money for a variety of charities:

  • Kingston’s Womens Expo and Hudson Bay Company Gala which raises money for local women’s health initiatives
  • CNIB Night Steps which raises money for the low or partially sighted
  • United Way Fare for Friends corporate sponsorship and silent auction
  • Almost Home (our local "home-away-from-home" for families with sick children) Charity Gala Auction
  • Our Christmas campaigns each year supporting the Partners in Mission Food Bank, Fly FM Toy Drive, Family & Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington gifts for foster children
  • Our annual Frame Show & Sale supports a local charity each year including the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research at Sunnybrook Hospital, and the Kingston General Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Oncology Unit

We also enjoy participating in events promoting local businesses including:

  • United Way Success by Six
  • KEBA Party in the Park, promoting Kingston east end businesses
  • Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce events including "50 Plus - Lifestyle Showcase"
  • Queen’s University ASUS Sidewalk Sale
  • YMCA Healthy Kids Day

In addition as an office we:

  • Have performed vision screenings and outreach at a local Montessori school and at Kingston Community Health Centre
  • Have acted as the regional lead for Eye See…Eye Learn, a program that provides a complimentary pair of eye wear to any junior kindergarten child who requires them
  • Have provided public education on 98.3 Fly FM regarding eye care for the whole family
  • Provide eyewear to those in need for the holidays with Good Vibes Glasses, an initiative in conjunction with Centennial Optical

In February 2022, the Ministry of Health issued an extension of expired Health Cards until September 30th, 2022.  The date is nearing and we wish to remind you to check the expiry date of your health card prior to your appointment if it's after October 1st, 2022. ALL RED&WHITE health cards without expiry dates will no longer be valid after September 30th, 2022.

IF YOUR HEALTH CARD IS EXPIRED, YOU WILL NOT HAVE OHIP COVERAGE STARTING OCTOBER 1, 2022 AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR YOUR HEALTH SERVICES.
