During his final year of training, Dr. Stephens completed an externship focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease at an ophthalmic surgical centre in Mobile, Alabama alongside cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastic and vitreo-retinal specialists. During her externship year, she worked at the Veterans’ Affairs Medical Centre in Lexington, Kentucky, managing diabetes, glaucoma, pre- and post-operative cataract procedures and macular degeneration. He received early acceptance into the program after only three years in undergraduate Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa, where he was awarded the Dean’s Award of Excellence. As part of her training, she completed several externships, including one in Pinellas Park, Florida, where she worked with retinal, cataract, and oculoplastic specialists. Dr. Abhi Vengadeswaran received her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo following the completion of her BSc at the University of Ottawa. During her education, Dr. Vengadeswaran worked with many optometrists in Ottawa and completed honours research in the treatment of genetic blindness at the Ottawa Hospital Eye Institute. Please call our office at 613-546-5744 if you experience loss of vision, double vision, swelling, infection or any eye emergency. We are equipped to deal with many eye emergencies and can refer you to ophthalmology as needed.

In February 2022, the Ministry of Health issued an extension of expired Health Cards until September 30th, 2022.  The date is nearing and we wish to remind you to check the expiry date of your health card prior to your appointment if it's after October 1st, 2022. ALL RED&WHITE health cards without expiry dates will no longer be valid after September 30th, 2022.

IF YOUR HEALTH CARD IS EXPIRED, YOU WILL NOT HAVE OHIP COVERAGE STARTING OCTOBER 1, 2022 AND YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR YOUR HEALTH SERVICES.
