Dr. Abhi Vengadeswaran received her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo following the completion of her BSc at the University of Ottawa. During her education, Dr. Vengadeswaran worked with many optometrists in Ottawa and completed honours research in the treatment of genetic blindness at the Ottawa Hospital Eye Institute. For her externship year, she completed an ocular disease rotation in Dauphin, MB, diagnosing and managing trauma, cataract, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy in rural communities. She then trained in a primary care setting in Oakville, ON. She also participated in volunteer vision care programs at the Special Olympics Youth Games in Toronto as well as a mission eye care trip to Montego Bay and Savanna-la-mar, Jamaica.
Originally from Ottawa, Dr. Vengadeswaran has relocated to Kingston in summer 2021. She is passionate about patient-centered communication to provide excellent eye care to patients of all ages, with a special interest in myopia control for young patients.
She is happy to provide service in English, French or Tamil. In her free time, Dr. Vengadeswaran enjoys reading, yoga, music and spending time in nature.
