Dr. Alexander Yowakim

Dr. Alex Yowakim graduated with Dean’s Honours from the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Waterloo. He received early acceptance into the program after only three years in undergraduate Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa, where he was awarded the Dean’s Award of Excellence. In his final year of studies, Dr. Yowakim completed an externship at the Tallahassee Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Florida, where he worked alongside eye surgeons and managed ocular diseases including cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, uveitis and macular degeneration. He is fully licensed to prescribe ocular therapeutics and is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists. Before joining our team at St. Lawrence Optometry, Dr. Yowakim practiced in Cornwall, ON treating diverse ocular pathology in a small-town setting. In his spare time, he enjoys many outdoor activities including cycling, hiking, volleyball and basketball. Dr. Yowakim grew up in the West Island of Montreal and is happy to serve patients in English or French. He welcomes new patients of all ages.
